About the Creator
Dori graduated with a BFA in painting and art history from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1987. After college she traveled the United States in a motorhome full-time for years, making a living selling her artwork along the way. She chose to settle in Birmingham, Alabama, a favorite place encountered in her travels. Her paintings were exhibited in museums and galleries across the country and abroad. Her travels and artwork have inspired three books: The Freeway, which chronicles her life on the road, My Steamboat, a memoir of her childhood in the Rocky Mountains, and Exhibit A, a catalogue of her Alabama painting project. With her husband, ceramic artist Scott Bennett, Dori now co-owns Red Dot Gallery in Birmingham, a teaching space, working studio, and art gallery.
